Vatten flödar från bergen,
over jord till havet.
Många hemligheter har Laugr.
Många faror ligger där i djup.
I ström kan man se jorden,
men havet går för alltid.
Hålla årahästan på gen.

Endlessly, does the stream seem to flow, as it cascades down the mountain valleys. It erodes the mighty stone, until nothing lies left. The water, ever-flowing, purifies its path, cleansing the ground beneath. The cleansing waters carry treasures in them, but to obtain them, the water itself must be overcome. Deceptive are its depths in many places, and often the fool has drowned in zealous greed. If mountains are reduced to pebbles, man is no obstacle. Those who seek gain from a cleansing force must show, first, respect.

“Water is what falls from the mountain.
But gold is costly.”
-Norwegian Rune Poem

Water sustains life; so it was, is, and will be. A bubbling stream houses many fish; many a belly full. When kept pure, its yield is high and healthy. Though it is home to only some, it is promise to many more.

Water is bubbling river,
wide kettle,
fishes gap.”
-Icelandic Rune Poem

Though as the stream, the sea sustains the lives of many; its depths are vastly unknown. Danger lurks in the open water, and the storm often brings waves of death to those who do not know how to ride them. Do not underestimate that which is not known, for it may well have the power to bring you to your knees.

“Water is endless to people;
if they travel on rolling bark, and sea-waves frightens them,
and the surf-horse heed not its bridle.”
-Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem
